Portfolio Review & Final Assessment:

Take note of your appointment time and location which is posted in the department or you can receive from your course leader. Refer to your individual project briefs and the feedback that you have received from your specialist staff during interim assessment and ensure that all work is complete at this stage.

UNITS 1-4 are now concluding (Unit 3 concludes 2nd Dec), you will receive final grades, and new projects w/c 23rd Nov. Arrive EARLY for your appointment and wait patiently outside the room so that you do not miss your assessment slot.

Please bring blog address (do not log in!) and mounted portfolio to your final assessment. If you do not attend or you miss your appointment a formal disciplinary will be issued and you will FAIL.

At your portfolio review and final assessment:

You will have 15 minutes to discuss your journey through Term 1 with at least two members of staff. You will discuss your most recent projects as a priority but you may also discuss and refer to the first projects to help explain how you have learned, progressed and developed on the course.

This is an opportunity to present all the great work that you have completed over the past 2 months and to acknowledge your strengths, weaknesses, and to identify ways to reach your targets. This is a positive and constructive process and you do not need to feel anxious or nervous going into your assessment. This is a chance for you to celebrate your hard work and to receive constructive feedback on your progress. Being able to present and talk about your work with confidence is an essential skill for university, job interviews, and life in general! This process will help you to develop this skill.

Some talking points we would like you to consider:

  • Can you explain what the briefs has asked you to do?
  • Have you interpreted the theme/concept/task in your own way to produce individual or independent results?
  • Think about your individual projects. What/who was the most important contextual reference that you used for inspiration or ideas?
  • What skills did you learn?
  • Looking back on your project or the term as a whole, what do you think are your strengths and your weaknesses? Consider all aspects of your learning from initial ideas through to completion. Which stages do you do well, and which stages do you think you are weaker at?
  • Identify one area that you want to work on for improvement for next term – this can be anything from time management, meeting deadlines, or refining specific skills, or challenging yourself to achieve something within a subject area. Be honest.
